OUR PROJECTS
SOUP N SMILES
One of the busiest projects of the Myriad Foundation, the Soup 'N' Smiles project is a mobile soup kitchen based in the heart of Manchester at Piccadilly Gardens. What started off with a bit of soup, a few slices of bread and a handful of service users over three years ago, has now rapidly grown into being a key service for many of the homeless and needy in Manchester.
FEED A FRIEND
The Myriad Foundation has established the Feed A Friend network in collaboration with mosques in Manchester,; intending to provide, nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. We hope to provide an end to end service, organised by the Muslim community from collection and sorting all the way through to distribution directly to the people.
MY SOCIAL BUDDY
My Social Buddy is a bespoke service that is offered to patients at local hospices as well as residents in care homes and supported housing.
Its a service which provides a personal buddy to spend time with those who may feel isolated and provides them with someone to chat to, play games or run errands for them. The Buddies can spend time with people in lots of different ways, the service is whatever the individuals need it to be.
MY TECH BUDDY
My Tech Buddy tackles the digital divide which exists in our society and we look to equip those who may not have been brought up with technology, with basic ICT skills.
Some of the essential skills My Tech Buddy aims to equip adults with are those needed to communicate online, create accounts, stay safe online and general web browsing.
UNVEILING ISLAM
The Unveiling Islam workshops tackle a variety of important topics about Islam, delivered by professional and engaging presenters, based on exam board curriculum and designed to closely mirror the learning outcomes of Key Stage 3 and 4 syllabuses. The aim of the workshop is to promote positive academic progress as well as exceptional personal development for students.
THE AWARENESS PROJECT
The Awareness Project is a project where volunteers trained to deliver the service conduct questionnaires with the general public.
The purpose behind this service is to first and foremost gain an understanding of what the general public have to say about their community, the people in that community and to share their concerns on what matters to them most. This can include matters of religion, social services, community initiatives and local and national news.
